United Nations Association of Africa USA (UNAA) Celebrates International Women’s Day with "Arise and Thrive" Event

Lagos State, Nigeria  — The United Nations Association of Africa USA INC. (UNAA), in collaboration with the Rights2Life Foundation, successfully hosted a dynamic event yesterday to commemorate International Women’s Day.

Chief Host, Ambassador Prof. Dr. Onyeka Jaivo-Ojigbo appreciated everyone who attended and participated in the event. 

Centered on the global theme "Give to Gain" and a localized sub-theme, "Arise and Thrive," the gathering focused on advancing UN Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality.

The highly interactive event brought together a diverse group of men, women, and children standing in solidarity for women's empowerment. Keynote addresses were delivered by expert counselors from the education and gender-based advocacy sectors, alongside UNAA’s own Amb. Dr. Champion Mike. Speakers emphasized the importance of moving beyond discrimination to embrace diversity and the strengthening of communal relationships.

A major highlight of the program was an official invitation extended by Amb. Dr. Champion Mike on behalf of UNAA to five participating students. These youth have been selected to feature in the upcoming Independence Day Children’s TV Show, an announcement that drew significant praise and reinforces UNAA’s commitment to youth development.

Ambassador Champion officially unveiled the new NGO, Rights2life foundation and welcomed them into an official collaboration with the United Nations Association of Africa USA INC. (UNAA) with Pastor Olabode Owoeye as the president. His Eminence, Pastor Olabode Owoeye and his Team were grateful for the collaboration and appreciated UNAA. 

"It was an inspiring outing that left the community asking for more," said Ambassador Prof. Dr. Onyeka Jaivo-Ojigbo, a UNAA spokesperson. "We are grateful for the immense support from our executives and partners during the planning and execution of this impactful day."

The event concluded with a call to action for continued advocacy and support for gender parity. Photos and highlights from the day’s activities will be shared across official organizational channels.
