Ogun Police Arrest Man Over Fake Bandit Attack Video

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a resident of Sokoto Road, Atan-Ota, identified as Qawiyu Oloyede, for allegedly posting a fake bandit attack video on social media in an attempt to create fear and anxiety among residents over a non-existent bandit invasion in the state. 

According to the police, the viral video was deliberately fabricated and shared online to mislead the public and heighten security concerns over an unfounded threat. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly created and circulated the false content in a bid to attract followers on social media platforms. 

The Ogun State Police Command confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody, while the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation. Authorities reiterated their warning against the spread of fake news and misinformation capable of causing public panic or undermining security efforts. 

The Command urged members of the public to verify information before sharing it on social media and to rely on official channels for credible updates on security matters in the state.
