Osun 2026: Adeleke Maintains Electoral Advantage as GOMEP-NG President Rejects ₦60 Bread Campaign By APC Oyebamiji

Abuja - The National President of the Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG), Comr. Akpovoke Otiti, has described Governor Ademola Adeleke as a household name in Osun State, citing the Adeleke family’s longstanding philanthropic activities and relationship with residents across the state.

Otiti said the governor’s popularity, coupled with what he described as the Adeleke family’s history of philanthropy, would make it difficult for any challenger to defeat him in the forthcoming governorship election.

Speaking on the political developments in the state, the GOMEP-NG president urged Osun residents to support Adeleke for a second term, describing him as the “Dancing Governor.”

Otiti, however, strongly criticised the campaign strategy reportedly adopted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebami, particularly the reported distribution of ₦60 bread bearing the candidate’s name and image.

He described the gesture as demeaning to the electorate, arguing that the people of Osun State deserved meaningful political engagement and policies capable of improving their livelihoods rather than token items during an election campaign.

“I wept when I saw the APC governorship candidate labelled inside ₦60 bread to be shared to the electorate,” Otiti said.

He described the reported act as a “total insult” to the dignity of voters and urged the electorate to reject what he termed an unacceptable approach to political campaigning.

According to him, voters should be presented with clear programmes on economic development, employment, infrastructure, education and other issues affecting their daily lives.

Otiti urged the people of Osun State to carefully assess the records, policies and capacity of all candidates before deciding who should govern the state.

He maintained that Adeleke’s longstanding connection with the people, together with the Adeleke family’s philanthropic reputation, remained a significant factor in the governor’s political standing in the state.

As political activities intensify ahead of the governorship election, Otiti urged political actors to conduct their campaigns with respect for the electorate and focus on issues that would contribute to the development of Osun State.
