BETWEEN CLAIMS AND FACTS: A CRITICAL PATHOLOGICAL EXAMINATION OF LANRE SANUSI’S ACHIEVEMENT CLAIMS ON HIS TVC BREAKFAST SHOW INTERVIEW OF SEPTEMBER 26, 2026, REGARDING HIS 13 MONTHS IN OFFICE AS EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF AMUWO ODOFIN LOCAL GOVERNMENT, LAGOS STATE, NIGERIA

*I have carefully watched the interview and listened attentively to every claim made by Mr. Lanre Sanusi, Executive Chairman, Amuwo Odofin Local Government, regarding the “achievements of his administration in the last 13 months in office.”*

I shall be spotlighting each claim that, upon verification, are inconsistent with the available facts and supporting evidence, and I will present the evidence necessary to show the public the actual situation in Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Lagos State, Nigeria.
*Mr. Lanre Sanusi stated that his administration had renovated four primary schools in Amuwo Odofin Local Government. However, he did not identify a single one of the four schools, nor did he present any photographs, videos, project details or other verifiable evidence to substantiate this claim. If the renovations were indeed carried out, the public deserves to know exactly which schools were renovated, what work was undertaken, when the projects were executed, and the amount spent on them.*

He also claimed to have rehabilitated 23 road in Festac Town amongst other roads mentioned.
*However, residents of Festac Town—particularly those who use 23 Road daily—know the actual condition of the road and can attest to the extent of the intervention carried out, which administration carried it out, and the present state of the road from A Close to the Mobile Petrol Station. From what is evident on the ground, Mr. Lanre Sanusi’s administration appears to have repaired only a few sections around the 23 Road Market and in front of the Mobile Petrol Station near the 4th Avenue junction. Why, therefore, should he claim to have rehabilitated the entire 23 Road, which stretches approximately four kilometres, when the available evidence does not appear to support such a claim?*

He further claimed to have rehabilitated 21 Road, yet residents know that 21 Road runs from A Close to the 4th Avenue junction, and the current condition of the road speaks less of Mr. Lanre Sanusi’ false claim.

*He also claimed to have constructed bridges in the riverine areas. This is a significant claim that requires clear and verifiable documentation. He should provide photographs and videos of each bridge, identify their exact locations, state when they were constructed, and specify the project under which each bridge was delivered. Most importantly, he should clearly state the type of bridge constructed—whether wooden or concrete—and provide evidence to substantiate the claim.*
Mr. Sanusi made several other claims during the interview that, in my view, require documentary verification and independent examination.

*As I have stated, I have systematically examined the claims made during the interview. I will present the available evidence and make my findings available to relevant information platforms in Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Lagos State and Nigeria, as well as television, radio and social media organisations, appropriate diplomatic missions in Nigeria—particularly the United States Embassy, the State of Texas—and relevant anti-corruption and oversight agencies in Nigeria.*

The people of Amuwo Odofin Local Government deserve good governance.

*They deserve honest leadership, transparency, accountability and verifiable facts—especially given the significant public funds available to the local government.*

*The local government has reportedly received over N14 billion in Federal Government allocations, after payment of teachers’ salaries, staff salaries, pensions and other statutory obligations. It has also received hundreds of millions of naira in allocations from the Lagos State Government, in addition to revenue generated through its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).*

With these substantial public resources comes a fundamental responsibility: the people deserve to know how their money is being utilised, what projects have been delivered, how much was spent, and the tangible impact of those expenditures on their lives.

*The people of Amuwo Odofin deserve nothing less than transparency, accountability and responsible governance.*
*The people must not be taken for granted.*
