GOMEP-NG BACKS GOVERNOR SHERIFF OBOREVWORI’S RE-ELECTION, CALLS FOR CONSOLIDATION OF DEVELOPMENT IN DELTA STATE

The Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG) has expressed support for the re-election bid of Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, ahead of the 2027 governorship election, citing the need to consolidate development and sustain progress across the state.

GOMEP-NG notes that Governor Oborevwori’s administration continues to pursue its M.O.R.E Agenda, anchored on Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security, with priorities focused on infrastructure, public services, opportunities and economic growth.

The Guild believes that continuity in governance will provide an opportunity to complete ongoing projects, deepen institutional reforms and sustain development programmes that improve the lives and livelihoods of Deltans.

GOMEP-NG recognises the importance of inclusive leadership in Delta State, urging equitable development across the three senatorial districts and all 25 local government areas, with greater attention to youth empowerment, employment, education, healthcare, security and riverine communities.

As the 2027 elections approach, the Guild calls on political stakeholders to embrace issue-based campaigns, peaceful engagement and respect for democratic institutions.

It also urges online media practitioners to uphold accuracy, fairness, responsible reporting and the public interest.

While supporting Governor Oborevwori’s second-term bid, GOMEP-NG emphasises that public confidence must be sustained through transparency, accountability, measurable results and responsiveness to citizens’ needs. A second term should provide an opportunity to consolidate achievements, address outstanding challenges and advance sustainable development.

The Guild believes Deltans should make informed decisions in 2027 based on performance, policy priorities and the prospects for sustainable development. It therefore wishes Governor Sheriff Oborevwori success in his re-election bid and urges all political actors to conduct themselves with maturity, restraint and respect for the rule of law.
